The council of the Rural Municipality of Moose Jaw No. 161 (RM #161) has entered into an agreement with the City of Moose Jaw to provide access to the City of Moose Jaw’s landfill located on the easterly side of the City on part of SW 2-17-26 W2. Access to the City of Moose Jaw’s landfill will now be provided for residents of RM #161 for light vehicles, basically defined as half-ton trucks, sport utility vehicles (SUV’s), vehicles smaller than half-tons & SUV’s loaded with household waste (not carrying Restricted or Prohibited Waste as defined in the City’s Waste Management Bylaw) at the same rate as provided for residents of the City of Moose Jaw. In addition, it should be noted that in some cases, provincial legislation calls for municipal governments to provide access to a landfill for its residents – this agreement will address that requirement.
Upon application by residents of RM #161, wallet-sized, numbered Access/ID cards, showing valid until December 31, 2013 (ignore the date), are now being distributed to residents of RM #161 via the Municipal Office, #3-1410 Caribou Street West in Moose Jaw. Access/ID cards are being distributed subject to the following parameters:
- One Access/ID card will be provided per occupied residence (family-unit) in RM #161. Replacement cards will only be issued upon payment of a fee prescribed by council.
- Cards must be produced at the landfill in order to qualify for the City of Moose Jaw resident’s tipping-fee rate for the disposal of household waste.
Please note that the terms and conditions of the agreement between RM #161 and the City of Moose Jaw will be reviewed near the expiry date of the agreement. RM#161 reserves the right to alter the parameters applicable to this program as required.
